ENTRY 6 INSTRUCTIONAL COURSEWARE DESIGN

HI PEOPLE! This week I will touch about Instructional Courseware Design.

Instructional Courseware Design is creating instructional experiences which make the acquisition of knowledge and skill more effective, efficient and appealing. It is consists of figuring out the needs of the learner, defining the learning objectives, and creating some intervention to achieve objectives.

What I have learnt about this topic are:

  • Foundational instructional design theories, frameworks, and application to develop learning experiences for digital platforms, including project-planning, content expertise, communication, writing, and technology.
  • Understanding of pertinent technology, programs, and methods, including interactive media, video, editing, digital design, and digital narrative.
  • Knowledge in focused topic areas, such as website development, web programming, and content management systems site development.

ENTRY 5 CMC

HELLO HOOOOMAN ! TODAY I WOULD LIKE TO TALK ABOUT CMC. HUH? CMC?

CMC is Computer-mediated communication (CMC) refers to human communication via computers and includes many different forms of synchronous, asynchronous or real-time interaction that humans have with each other using computers as tools to exchange text, images, audio and video.

  • Examples of Computer-Mediated Communication:
CMC examples includes email, network communication, instant messaging, text messaging, hypertext, distance learning, Internet forums, USENET newsgroups, bulletin boards, online shopping, distribution lists and video conferencing.

So from what I have learnt about CMC, I can identify advantages and disadvantages of it. The advantages are it is no distance barrier, mitigates time as a barrier, makes collaborations much easier and can reduced social influences and detriments. For the disadvantages, it might be lack of socio-emotional and nonverbal cues. Other than that, lack of real human contact and problems with access to technology.

ENTRY 4 SEARCH ENGINE AND ONLINE DATABASE

Hi peeps ! So this week I would like to talk about Search Engine and Online Database.

What is it actually? It is a web tool that allows users t enter keywords and find information on websites contained in its database. On the Internet, a search engine is a coordinated set of programs that includes:

  • A spider (also called a "crawler" or a "bot") that goes to every page or representative pages on every Web site that wants to be searchable and reads it, using hypertext links on each page to discover and read a site's other pages
  • A program that creates a huge index (sometimes called a "catalog") from the pages that have been read
  • A program that receives your search request, compares it to the entries in the index, and returns results to you

An alternative to using a search engine is to explore a structured directory of topics. Yahoo, which also lets you use its search engine, is the most widely-used directory on the Web. A number of Web portal sites offer both the search engine and directory approaches to finding information.

ENTRY 3 EVOLUTION OF CALL

WELCOME BACK !!

ARE YOU REMEMBER THE PREVIOUS TOPIC? IF YOU REMEMBER, THIS ENTRY IS ABOUT THE EVOLUTION OF CALL.

FROM WHAT I HAVE LEARNT, THERE ARE 3 PROGRESSION OF CALL WHICH ARE:

  • Behavioristic CALL
  • Communicative CALL
  • Integrated CALL
Behaviouristic CALL developed in 1960s based on behaviourist learning theory and primarily used for Audio-Lingual method. The advantages of behavioristic CALL are repitition can give benefit for learning and also can provide immediate feedback. Other than that, students can work at their own pace outside the classroom.

Communicative CALL developed between 1970 to 1980. It is focused on the usage of language rather than perfect grammar. It is also can allows student to generate their own original uterance and creates an invironment where the usage of language becomes natural.

Integrated CALL is the integration of the real world materials into CALL. It is began with the use of CD-ROMs to store large amounts of authentic media that can used as materials. It's became popular with the development of high speed internet and widely accessible hypermedia.

For the conclusion, Internet is the important thing and wide availability of technology, many cores ideas of CALL are changing. Computer also is the motivation are on the decline.

ENTRY 1 BLOGGING

HI PEEPS ! SO FOR THE FIRST ENTRY’S TOPIC THAT I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU GUYS IS BLOG. SO WHAT IS BLOG? LET’S CHECK IT OUT !

From what I have learnt about blogging, there are several type of blog which are Weblog, Tutor Blog, Class Blog, and Learner Blog. WEBLOG is an updated website that you can always write and update your latest. It is more like online journal. It is easy to you to set up the information thus it can display pictures and videos also. More interesting about Weblog, easy to access with online resources. Anywhere, anytime! TUTOR BLOG basically conducted by teacher of the class. The content of the blog consists of syllabus material, course information, homework and assignments. It is all about educational informative. CLASS BLOG is moderates by teacher and a site that is shared by class members so that teachers and student can post anything that related with subjects or class activity. Other than that, it will be able used as a collaborative discussion space. LEARNER BLOG can be used as online journal where students are encouraged to shared thoughts, reflect on lesson or write about what interests them. It is basically students own a personal blog but it takes time and effort for teachers to implement.

WHY PEOPLE USE BLOGS?

From what I have known, teacher and tutors can provide extra reading for students to do the revision and exercises. Thus, it is a point students to online resources related to lesson. Students who do not participate much and shy to expose themselves, blog is the main medium to them. Others, blog can encourage process-writing approach and stimulate out of class discussions.
