ENTRY 3 EVOLUTION OF CALL

WELCOME BACK !!

ARE YOU REMEMBER THE PREVIOUS TOPIC? IF YOU REMEMBER, THIS ENTRY IS ABOUT THE EVOLUTION OF CALL.

FROM WHAT I HAVE LEARNT, THERE ARE 3 PROGRESSION OF CALL WHICH ARE:

  • Behavioristic CALL
  • Communicative CALL
  • Integrated CALL
Behaviouristic CALL developed in 1960s based on behaviourist learning theory and primarily used for Audio-Lingual method. The advantages of behavioristic CALL are repitition can give benefit for learning and also can provide immediate feedback. Other than that, students can work at their own pace outside the classroom.

Communicative CALL developed between 1970 to 1980. It is focused on the usage of language rather than perfect grammar. It is also can allows student to generate their own original uterance and creates an invironment where the usage of language becomes natural.

Integrated CALL is the integration of the real world materials into CALL. It is began with the use of CD-ROMs to store large amounts of authentic media that can used as materials. It's became popular with the development of high speed internet and widely accessible hypermedia.

For the conclusion, Internet is the important thing and wide availability of technology, many cores ideas of CALL are changing. Computer also is the motivation are on the decline.
